This Privacy Policy explains how Boreal Kitchens & Cabinetry Inc. ("Boreal", "we", "us") collects, uses and protects personal information. We are a private-sector business in Alberta, so we follow Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). For commercial electronic messages we follow Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
1. Who we are
Boreal Kitchens & Cabinetry Inc., 15454 131 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T5V 0A1. Our privacy contact is Andrii Polianko, office@borealkitchens.ca.
2. What we collect
- Contact details: name, phone, email, project address, preferred contact method.
- Project details: room sizes, photos and drawings you send, measurements we take on site, material choices, budget range, schedule.
- Payment and contract records: invoices, payment amounts and dates, signed agreements. We don't store full card numbers; card payments are handled by the payment processor.
- Job applications: resume, work photos and references you send for a role.
- Website data: pages visited, device and browser type, approximate location, and how you reached the site, collected through cookies and analytics tools.
3. Why we use it
- To answer your enquiry, book a measure and prepare a quote.
- To design, build, deliver and install your project, and to coordinate partner trades you've agreed to.
- To invoice, keep accounting records and meet tax and legal obligations.
- To handle warranty and service requests.
- To consider job applications.
- To improve our website and measure how our advertising performs.
We collect only what we need for these purposes, and we don't sell personal information.
4. Consent
By sending a form, calling, emailing or messaging us, you consent to us using your information to respond and to provide the service you asked for. You can withdraw consent at any time by contacting us, unless the information is needed to complete a contract or meet a legal requirement. We'll tell you what withdrawing would mean for your project.
5. Email, text and WhatsApp messages (CASL)
We send you messages about your enquiry or project. We send marketing messages (news, offers, guides) only with your consent or where CASL allows implied consent, for example within two years of a purchase. Every marketing message identifies Boreal and includes a way to unsubscribe. We act on unsubscribe requests within 10 business days. Reply "stop" to a WhatsApp or text message, or use the unsubscribe link in an email.
6. Who we share it with
We share information only as needed to do the work:
- Partner trades and suppliers (for example countertop fabricators, plumbers, electricians, appliance suppliers) to complete your project.
- Service providers that run our email, cloud storage, website, analytics, advertising and payment processing.
- Professional advisers such as our accountant, lawyer and insurer.
- Authorities when the law requires it.
Some service providers, including Google and Meta, may store or process information outside Canada, for example in the United States. That information is then subject to the laws of that country. You can ask us for more information about our providers outside Canada.
7. Cookies and analytics
Our website uses cookies for basic functions, analytics (such as Google Analytics) and advertising measurement (such as the Meta pixel). You can control non-essential cookies through our cookie banner or your browser settings. Blocking cookies won't stop you from using the site.
8. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't become projects: up to 2 years.
- Project, contract and warranty records: for the warranty period plus at least 6 years, to meet tax and legal requirements.
- Job applications: up to 1 year, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
When we no longer need information, we delete or securely destroy it.
9. How we protect it
We use password-protected accounts, limited access for staff who need the information, and reputable cloud providers. Paper drawings with addresses are kept in the office and shredded when no longer needed. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we'll notify you and the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta, as PIPA requires.
10. Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask how it has been used and shared. Email office@borealkitchens.ca. We'll respond within 45 days, as PIPA requires. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta (oipc.ab.ca).
11. Photos of your project
We only publish photos of your home on our website or social media with your permission. We never publish your address or name without consent.
12. Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version. Material changes will be noted on this page.
