Cabinet refacing vs replacing: when each makes sense
Kitchen cabinet refacing works when the boxes are sound: dry, square, no swollen bottoms, and a layout you're happy with. You keep the countertops in most cases, there's no demolition, and the kitchen stays usable during most of the work. For homeowners across the Edmonton area it's the fastest way to a new-looking kitchen.
It's the wrong choice if the sink base is water-damaged, the layout doesn't work, or you want to move the fridge or add an island. Then you pay for new fronts on a kitchen that still frustrates you. We'll tell you at the measure if new cabinets are the better spend.

Doors and fronts are cut, finished and drilled for hinges in house.

Refacing questions
01Is cabinet refacing worth it?+
Yes, if your boxes are solid and you like the layout. You get new doors, fronts and hardware for roughly half the cost of new cabinets, with no demolition. If the layout is the problem, new cabinets are the better spend.
02How much does cabinet refacing cost?+
Usually 40–60% of the price of new custom cabinets for the same kitchen. For a 20-foot run with painted MDF shaker doors, expect roughly $10,000–$13,000 before GST. Use the calculator above for your size.
03Can I use my kitchen during refacing?+
Mostly yes. Cabinets are emptied section by section, and the sink and counters stay in use.
04Can you reface thermofoil cabinets with peeling doors?+
Yes. Peeling thermofoil doors can't be repaired well, but the boxes underneath are often fine. New doors solve the problem.
05Can I add a few new cabinets while refacing?+
Yes. We build new matching boxes and fit the same doors. See cabinet modifications for common changes.
06What warranty do I get?+
Blum hardware carries 10 years and our installation carries 2 years. New doors are covered as part of our written warranty.
