Older Devon bungalows have narrow reach-in closets, where a fitted system with double hanging, a drawer stack and adjustable shelves can roughly double what fits; reach-ins typically run $1,500 to $4,000 CAD before GST. Newer homes often have walk-in closets with wire shelving, which we replace with Egger melamine systems and Blum soft-close drawers, typically $4,000 to $15,000. Sliding doors at $900 to $2,500 per opening are a good fit where swing doors block the room.
Devon was built in 1948 as a planned town for workers after the Leduc No. 1 oil discovery, and named after the Devonian rock formation the oil came from. Its oldest streets still have compact post-war bungalows, joined over the decades by split-levels, newer subdivisions along the North Saskatchewan River valley and acreages in the surrounding county.
